Whine

Featured Replies

1.9TDI 5 speed approaching 92000 miles. At 50 mph there is a whine coming from the front of the car. It is speed dependant, not rev. What could it be? sounds like the gearbox/diff to me, is this a known issue?

due to the lack of response I'd imagine this a rare thing.

Could be a wheel bearing? I had the same a couple of months back, rear wheel bearing in my case.

I had a similar problem on a previous Superb, it turned out to be the the engine floor cover that had come loose & at certain speeds made a hell of a sound. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice all, it's my Dad's Mike, seems to be going downhill rapidly.
