New guy needs some help!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Im new on here as only had my fabia 4 months, but having problems already :( The car is 55 plate 70k miles in black.

First month turbo was whining with black smoke everywhere - this was fixed under warranty, third month bottom hose blew off the intercooler- instead of going to warranty i purchased FMIC from the group buy on here as didn't like the idea of it happening again plus was a very nice kit with no more problems :) but......

On the way back from work today there was a very loud bang then white smoke every where this also stunk! I've had a read and i think its the turbo that has blown. l have a feeling the guys who do the warranty will say its something to do with the aftermarket FMIC and wont cover it. Im just looking for suggestions for what to do as i love the car but don't have loads of money to upgrade been looking a standard replacement or will the PD150 be stronger and last longer?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but the basic rule of modification under any warranty is don't unless you have the financial and/or technical ability to make repairs. Obviously you need to determin the cause of the failure, if it's any part that's related to work you've done then expect to cover it yourself unless you can prove the failure was nothing to do with the IC upgrade, till you know what it is you're not going to be able to fix it do at the very least get it scanned with the shareware copy of VCDS or a VAG fault scanner.

Really not liking the idea of stinking white smoke. Will foloow thread with interest and finger crossed it's nothing too terminal.

Thanks for the quick reply, i would like to get it scanned but the car isnt going any where dont wanna start it and cause more damage do you know of any1 in the hampshire area? possibly basingstoke? i am mechanically minded and do all my car work myself so if it was just the turbo not a problem to fit a new one hence why i asked about the PD150.

thanks again :)
