which clutch/flywheel kit is best?

Featured Replies

Second one for me (cheapest) if not planning on pushing mega power

I would go for the LUK as I have used them before in previous cars, but I have also used a Valeo in my son's car. As devonutopia put above, depends how many ponies you intend to run in the future.

Sachs all the way. That's what I have now ,for allmost 4 years. And it's smooth and bites like the first day.

I usual drive normal-a bit sporty, but sometimes I smoke the tires like hell.Tires don't last more than 2 years.

cars only got about 200bhp, wont be going much higher i doubt. only upgrading the clutch as gearbox is dying so its gonna be off soon anyway

I had circa 230hp in my 3 previous jap cars, and 2 had LUK clutches in them, was good as gold, however the 3rd had a valeo fitted just before I purchased it,. The Valeo felt the best, but did seem to need frequent adjustment - so if that helps you are welcome.

cheers all,

Any of the first 3, they are all decent makes!

The 4th one from 'techinclutch' will be junk

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but just to clarify, if I find I need a new clutch, these are the options I should be considering instead of letting my mechanic replace it with the standard clutch, correct?

if you want to do the single mass conversion, yes

all those are from techniclutch who have had their fair share of "coverage" on forums

i'd be tempted just to get all from dealer except the sachs vr6 clutch from vwspares

if you want to do the single mass conversion, yes

And is that advisable? You probably lose a little refinement, but get better reliability, right?

i had the smf conversion done on my a3, and couldnt tell the difference, dont know if it would be the same on a petrol but personally i think dmf-smf is a no brainer just for the reliability, especially if your doing the clutch anyway

I and Bowders1 have that 4th kit, didnt pay near that tho lol hence why we got them. Mark has his on and last I heard found it really good, took a few mile to get it bedded in right but as of 3 week ago when I asked him he said it was solid. Cant wait to get mine on a bedded in.

also dont dis techclutch, I got mine in good time and with no trouble. took a few days.

Mark might shed some light on his exp if you ask him.

I've just had the Valeo one in mine.. Cracking feel through the pedal compared to my DMF.

Can't really comment on longevity however I'm sure it's not going to be bad.
