im looking for a 30-40mm drop.

Just springs? Eibachs are probably your best bet, or H&Rs. Any more than 40mm (some would say 30mm) and you'll need different dampers, at which point it makes more sense to pick up cheap coilies - unless you've got plenty of cash to buy midrange coilies at which point it comes out at around a similar level to springs and uprated dampers.

ah ok mate cheers, will springs that say they fit a vrs fit a non vrs aswell?

Nope - different weight ratings over the axles. The 1.9 TDI engine in the VRS is a lot heavier than a 1.4.

DPM do JOM coilovers for not that much more than you'll pay for springs but remember to check with your insurance company how much they want to charge you for the modification, all it takes is some muppet to crash into you and the assessor will spot non standard suspension quite easily.
