ASR, the perfect system?

Featured Replies

Reading all the forums about ASR, people are always commenting that the system is far too sensitive and cuts power too soon and for too long... Well...

Set the scene:

Closed road, good Tarmac surface, mildly damp, front tyres have a good 3-4mm of tread and recently pumped up, running completely standard Fabia VRS SE, never set the ASR light off usually as drive sensible and with a light right foot...

So with ASR turned off I could spin the fronts through to 3rd no problem (as you'd expect)

With ASR turned on, could spin the fronts all the way through 1st with a few flashes of the ASR light at about 4,000rpm, exactly the same all through 2nd, then it cuts power as I change into third, leaving a lovely smell of burning rubber...

So can't say my VRS agrees with the standard stereotype ASR system, unless anyone can shed some light on the situation. Must say its the perfect system, let's you Be in control most of the time and only kicks in very little.

I Love my Fabia :-)
