Classic aircon

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have the base model classic tdi with just aircon no climate but it doesn't seem to work. I have had a good search but here is the situation:

Gas level is fine

compressor is spinning (although i have read the its not the old school clicky clutch on these)

only has one fan on this model but that doesn't spin with the aircon on

no fault codes

replaced the pressure switch just in case

no fuses gone (as far as i can tell)

aircon light comes on just no pressure change and no cold air

check for 12v at the compressor but it didn't register anything, does it take 12v on is it ran on a signal rather than 12v?

any help would be muchly appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Have you had the system re-gassed?

Kwitfit will do it and guarantee it, or if they find leaks wont charge you unlike others

it hasn't been re gassed but a specialist has checked the gas level and said its not pressurising but there is enough gas in the system

Right, i have gone back to the starting board and i think i have found something. I got my own multimeter and tested the power to the compressor and there is 12v, i also have a pressure gauge on the low refill point and there is definitely no change with the air con switched on which (please correct me if im wrong) means the compressor is duff?

thanks

I have Skoda Octavia Ambiente Estate 1.9TDi PD with standard aircon. This has failed and the Skoda stealer wants £650 to change compressor, recharge and test.

The dilemma I have is that a local independant aircon specialist will do the same job with a 'pattern' compressor for £325.

I have never owned a vehicle where aircon was an issue until this,my first Skoda.

I have lights for everthing on the dashboard but not for a kaput compressor and/or airconn system.
