Knocking when you wiggle the steering wheel

Featured Replies

Anyone else get this? A knock when you wiggle the steering wheel from side to side. Doesn't happen when moving, only stationary.

It used to only do it when really cold but now does it all the time.

What could it be?

Sounds like either the steering gear or one of the front bushes....

sorry, double post....

Hmm, it's odd - you can't feel it through the column as I've held my hand on it under the dash whilst I did it. You feel it through the floor...... wonder if it's bushes as you say, like console or wishbone.

I had just that on my former Vauxhall Meriva, there it was the steering gear that had to be replaced. With an Octavia I guess probably it's more likely to be the bushes....which should be easily checkable and not too expensive to replace.
