Intermittent Rear Side Light Bulb Failure

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a rear intermittent buld failure, maxidot says check rear right side light, all lights appear to be working. Can anyone tell me the buld I need to replace ive checked the manual but Im at a loss which is the side light/tail light/brake light etc DOH!

Me too.there are two bulbs on each side of the rear tail light lamps. I'll bet you that one of the bulbs is ifffey. Give it a tap ang it should work. Then replace both of them when you get a chance.

Thanks don't suppose you know the bulb type so I can pick some up later

I too had this issue on my 2009 Twin Door and I found a light tap on the bodywork near the light cluster got rid of the issue The warning light came up several times during the 60k miles / 3 years I had the car and I never had to replace the bulb.

I had assumed it was either a bulb seating issue or "dodgy" connection.

It was on a long service interval and always forgot to menton it to the service desk.

Mine was right side too !

They are little cap less side light bulbs. I think they are 3//5 watt. Any motor factors stock them.

I also have a bulb an intermittent out, rear right side light. When I tap it, it comes on. So I turn ignition off then on an light goes ot on my dashboard. Does anyone know exactly where the fault is and how to fix it permanently? This seems to be a common problem with this particular model. 2013 skoda superb 2.

It could simply be the bulb is on its last legs. The filament may look ok but could be very thin in a spot. If you take the bulb out and compare it to a brand new one you might just see a very slight black tinge to the bulb that isn’t obvious until the old one is next to a new one.

For the sake of a couple of quid, just change the bulb for a brand new one and all should be well again.

Thanks Jars!

I'll give that a shot.
