Engine Guard

Featured Replies

Hello

New to forum, got an Octavia Est Tdi, now two years old and yesterday lost my second engine guard/tray, fell off on the M3.

The nice RAC man seemed like he'd come across this before!

Anyone else had this problem? Design fault? Its not like I take it off road.

Also save me trawling through old message boards any rants/discussion about the pathetic service you get at Main Dealers?

Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

Welcome (haha beat you to it Denis) to Briskoda.

Not heard of the engine guard problem before but others may have.

Lots of discussion about dealers - some good, some bad. In the reviews section there's a whole forum devoted to reviews of dealers. Why not add your comments on your local dealer at the same time as checking out any others that might be in your area ....

Welcome, Pezza! As Nick said, this isn't a problem which has been mentioned on Briskoda before, but there is a first time for everything. A couple of members have managed to hole their sumps, but that wasn't during 'normal' driving.

Denis, it was normal driving when I lost my sump, all things are relative :D

I have never got round to refitting mine and I know of at least one other member on here who doesn't run one, OK the engine bay get more dirty but the benefit is improved cooling.

Not heard of them just "falling off" though.

As to dealers, no, mine is fantastic. Most seem to be very good, and, IMHO, they are far better than most other marques.

Oh and welcome to the site by the way.

Jon
