DVR recommendations

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

Out of interest, I bought an entry level DVR a couple of months ago to see if I liked having one. £20 ebay jobbie so I wasn't expecting much.

It's okay. Allegedly can record in HD, but I can't see much difference apart from a marginally larger image when downloaded. My Mac doesn't particularly like the HD .avi files, but the most annoying feature is a gnat-like high pitched whine :@ when it's plugged in to the 12v socket, so it's got to go.

I've noticed a few record mph, which I think would be quite useful and I wondered what other features people found particularly useful and what units they'd recommend?

Ordinary car use, no track stuff. Must be silent and unobtrusive. I don't need the distraction of a screen. £150 max.

I've read reviews, but would appreciate some real-world views/recommendations.

TIA

Techmoan on YouTube does reviews of things from the bay. He has recently done the gs1000? It has gps as well as 1080p full 1920x1080 at 30fps which is the most important bit

A few of us on here have the Blackvue DR400G. They are really good but a bit more than £150.

Very interesting, thank you - I'd noticed a couple of people on here mentioning them. I can see the £250 ones, but also notice some £118 ones on eBay, albeit they look to be the 16Gb ones as oppose to 32Gb. Wonder if they're knock offs?

Cheers for the replies chaps
