basic cd player install in a var. how much?

Featured Replies

hi

i have a vw beach buggy which has speakers ariel etc installed but no cd player/radio.

how much would it cost to get a basic cd player put into a car roughly? do halfrauds etc offer a service like it?

cheerie

Does it have a place to put a head unit? Wiring?

If it's got those already, don't bother getting Halfrauds to put it in. If you know which end of a Mars Bar to open, you can install a head unit ;)

Cheapy head units from Halfrauds, Maplins, eBay, etcetcetc sometimes in the for sale on here too

it has a lockable glove box so was thinking in there. it has loose wiring one of which.comes.from the ariel so i assume thats the stero wiring as its all tied together.

theu really that easy?

You can get a screw-in fascia type thing that may help in this case (Halfords do have those.) Along with "wires to ISO connector" if needed. (Most H/U's have ISO connectors on the back)

All you need to find is a switched live, permanent live and an earth. The rest isn't major as they'll just be speakers, easy to change if you get left and right back-to-front.

All new H/Us I've installed came with very clear, simple, step-by-step instructions. Basically as long as you're not colour-blind, it really is that easy.

I fitted a JVC head unit in my beetle.. Really easy... Instructions came with the stereo and were easy to follow.. Have you used a beetle fuse box? I just piggy backed of a permanent live.. and followed the instructions.. And I was a total novice.. :)
