Are all the newer Fabia Diesels fitted with a DPF ?

Featured Replies

I have a mark 1 TDI which does not have one..... i have heard nightmare stories of owners who do short journey's and have issues with them, does the newer Fabia have them ?

all of the 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0 litre common rail engines have DPF's

the DPF's are not a problem so long as you do a longer run avery now and again for the DPF to regen

just do not ignore the warning light on the dash, as if you do that is when it gets expensive

the warning light is there to tell you you need a longer run at 50-60mph for upto 15 minutes as the system has not had the right engine conditions to do a regen cycle, so if the light comes on take the wife out shopping at the out of town shopping centre 20 miles away and that should do the trick and save you more then what she can spend in the clothes and handbag shops :)

Cheers for that, what about the 1.9tdi's, my car has that engine and i understand some of the early mark 2 cars have the same

Depends on the engine code really mate.

Mark iis in pd form have a mixture of dpf and non dpf.

I have a oct 2007 1.4 tdi which is a BNV engine - basically a mark one engine but they used it up to 2008.

It is non DPF. I think the euro version of the emissions helps determine dpf or not. The replacement in 2008 was BMS I think, which was DPF.

I use a useful link for i use for this which is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Volkswagen_Group_diesel_engines
