Anything will fit anything, just different amounts of work involved. Until someone tries it, we`ll not know just how much would be needed.

I have Babs, but this is the reason for discussing here.

A 2.0 Tsi has benefits over a 1.8T no?

I could be wrong, but I seem to have got an idea that the smaller capacity engines will suffer from more lag at the same power output.

What was the unit used at Bonneville last year?

That engine in a fabia would be interesting.

You thinking of changing the diesel for a petrol in your fabia vRS then?

Yes the 1.8t will fall into the hole like it was made for it.... In fact the Ibiza based on the same platform came with a 1.8t from the factory so most of the pieces you need could be got from oem parts stock including the wiring looms..

tbh I wish I hadn't sold my 2.0 fabia now, it was in my back garden for ages because I was planning a party involving a 24v golf 4motion engine and a big bag of spanners but i got sidelined and ended up virtually giving it away.

Forget tsi engines, it would end up being a whole world of pain, bolting the engine in is the easy bit, the troubles you would encounter get very complicated very quickly (expensive)... My favourite conversion on one of these would still be a r32 or 4motion engine any day.. Something around 200-250bhp is ideal, anything more is a waste on the roads

Whatever conversion you do needs to be practical and reliable, there's no point in making huge power car in the current climate of £1.50 odd per litre, and turning up the boost will cost you huge money if you want to make it durable..

God has spoken lol

Besides just leave the 2.0l in there, it's a mustang slayer .......................... Cue the music lol

A 2.0l Fabia would take a Mustang like a King!

The 200cc won't matter a lot, and any difference would be outweighed by the 4 extra valves. Swings and roundabouts :)

And as Tom says, TSI is a whole different kettle of fish!

I've got a 1.8T to go in mine now :)

Unlikely as the Fabia is very good and still runs in full road trim with all seats, spare etc...

Thinking more of a track day toy.

I have these crazy ideas from time to time, usually on a Sunday when my brain has no work to distract it. :D

I'd be a bit daft to chop up the last mkI Fabia ever registered to make a bitsa hybrid.

I've already got a smidge over 250bhp in the diesel Fabia. But whatever it ended up being it wouldn't really be for road use, except maybe to get to the track. But now I've got a Yeti I could always tow it. :)

^ tbh that are far better options than using a fabia as a track car.... My money would go on a rover 25

A Fab with a 2 litre lump - must go round corners like a Royal Barge-given the handling of the 1.4 model. And then to give it only 15 BHP more than the existing 1.4 twin cam and 1.3 seconds faster to 60 than the latter - sounds look like a marketing con.

Your money? You mean all £4 it costs for a Rover 25?

Cheap like the budgie, I know it sounds crazy to say it, but a rover 25 would make an excellent track car, and it handles far better than a fabia ever will, you can shoe horn in a vvt engine from an mgf as a plug and play fit to make a fairly useful track weapon. Simples, cheapo budget motorsport.

Very, very true, Tom! :D

We've scrapped god knows how many in recent years. Being an ex Rover dealer we still get olds in, still popping head gaskets and the like. Just had a turbo pop on a 1.8T 75 and I think that's killed that one off.
