2 Litre Fabia

Featured Replies

I do. My mate had a yellow bug with 18" alloys and it was an awesome looker. Standard trim it looks a bit too bland for me, but the big (and nicely designed) 5 spoke alloys really set it off. Truly was a beaut.

Attracted the attention of the local toe-rags, though. IIRC had at least 2 vandalism attacks.

It was this same person who pointed me to the vRS just as I was about to plump for a Focus ST170. I have a lot to thank him for. He was the best man at my wedding, too - I chose wisely :)

WRT the 2.0 8v unit. I presume this was the same motor that was in the Ibiza GTi Cupra 2 facelifts ago? I had one and it was pretty good. No rocket ship, but a good car for the price back then. I drove a friend's 2.0 16v Cordoba (closest to 16v Ibiza GTi I got). With the bigger wheels/lower profile tyres it was a nicer drive and I didn't have any issues with it's power delivery. I'd expected it to be too peaky for my taste having remembered reviews of Golf GTis, but in reality it felt very similar through to the mid-to-high rev range then just kept on pulling where the 8v ran out of steam.

Regards,

Mark

Anything will fit anything, just different amounts of work involved. Until someone tries it, we`ll not know just how much would be needed.

  • Holy thread revival... Again :wonder: Yes the 1.8t will fall into the hole like it was made for it.... In fact the Ibiza based on the same platform came with a 1.8t from the factory so most of the pi

  • Cheap like the budgie, I know it sounds crazy to say it, but a rover 25 would make an excellent track car, and it handles far better than a fabia ever will, you can shoe horn in a vvt engine from an m

Hmm turbo for 8v engines, got a Volvo 460 needing to be bought or I could rip the 2.0l engine out of da volvo and fit in my Skoda :D.

If it aint aircooled its not a real Beetle!

 hehe just thought I'd wize up the masses to the old school lump that is the 2 Litre Fabia :D

Check out post #11 - One of my very first, and when I STILL hadn't inverted fabia mk1.

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by "inverted"?

To turn inside out or upside down? :P

still a lot of mis-information regarding the humble 2.0 fabia engine though in this thread, the engine has vitually nothing in common with the old golf3/ibiza 2.0 engine.....

still got my 2.0 fabia, just coming upto 150k now :D

nice :) Pritty reliable engines then eh?

Mine has only done 55k and nothing has gone wrong with her

Apart from the water pump went once - but that not really the engine now is it

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

Emissions will be higher and so will fuel economy but it is a pretty simple 8 v lump and with the price of Diesel now.... However the 1.9 TDI is a great engine if you can hack the noise, even the 100 BHP engine feels quick, someone mentioned the 1.4 TDI as well. I tried one in 80 BHP tune and liked it. Had a nice unusual engine note and felt pretty brisk too, add in 60 mpg and it may be worth trying!

Swmbo loves here 2.0i, It is just a very easy car to drive, and not to bad on fuel (see below ) it is mainly used for town work with the occasional longer run.

Just incase anyone still wants one, found this :D

Skoda Fabia 2.0 Elegance 5-Dr Hatchback

indeed I got 49.6 mpg average on a 45 mile trip to Banbury the other day. Thats with a mixture of town and A + B road "action" although I didn't really overtake anything and just kept to 50-60 mph so sorta nursing it a little ;)

On an average "spirited" run I get 35-40 though.

I used to have the same engine in a 2003 Octavia.

Not a bad little engine, overall. MPG was about 35 on average.

I think we're all more than aware of the powers of the Fabia 2.0L ;)

Nice to see you back BTW

So as there was a 2.0 petrol Fabia mkI, would a 2.0tsi late engine fit?

Have I gone back in time? My experiment worked!

Oh. No. Just epic thread revival.

2.0 TSi is a newer design. 2.slow 115bhp unit died around 2003..? Maybe earlier.

Somehow think you could have started a new topic referencing this one. This one's currently waving its walking stick about making random comments to nobody and drooling.

Though back on topic... Physically it may fit, the electrical system is likely to be the big problem. I assume the stock 2.0 ECU won't hack it with the 2.0T.

I reckon an 1.8 T would ddrop in

Whats this, the thread that keeps on giving lol

I agree, but when I did a search this popped up and naturaly I thought it was in the Fabia mkI section. If I'd seen it was in the general section I probably would have started again in the Fabia mkI section. But here we are... :D

1.8T is too easy and does not tune up enough. No challenge as already done or others doing it.

Looking at APR you are only going to get about 350bhp out of one reliably. Not enough, maybe because it's a smaller capacity/older engine. A slightly bigger engine will always have the potential for better set up with less low down lag.

The 2.0 Tsi looks good for 400-450bhp reliably.

That should make a pretty interesting, although slightly laggy, Fabia with a kerbweight under 1300kg.
