Very nice write up and lovely photos!

Our trip might be delayed as we are still waiting for our baby daughter's passport - after 4 weeks we have just received a letter saying the photo (of a 7 week baby at the time it was taken!) was not good enough. Apparently her face covered more than 75% of the area so "her head seemed too big". Pathetic. So I now have to send some more photos back to those morons and keep waiting - in the meantime postpone Eurotunnel, postpone Hotel bookings, ferries, proper nightmare. Plus this being over a compulsory company summer shutdown, I am twiddling thumbs in my own time soon rather than enjoying myself on the Riviera.

Was interested in your Belarus insurance - did you manage to buy suitable "insurance cover" on the border, and if so, did they manage to convince you it was worth more than the ink and paper it's made of?? In Serbia there is a similar problem, hardly any UK insurer will cover Serbia on the Green Card, so one has to buy insurance on the border, but it's worthless to me - it's basically third party cover. Same story every year, and costs over 100 euros too.

Thanks for the photos and the write up. Looks like quite a cool journey. Liking the fact they still keep a lot of older cars motoring.

I bought insurance on the border of Belarus and it cost €17.00 for three days, but was only third party and I have no idea exactly what it did and didn't cover. I've got the policy somewhere and i'll see if SWMBO can translate it. I'm currently insured with Churchill and they won't cover Belarus, so I only had the minimum cover whilst I was there but survived without a scratch! We'll probably return to Belarus in a couple of years, so I'm going to change to an insurer who'll cover me fully comprehensive when I'm there, especially as we're changing to a new Mk II Superb L & K soon. That'll be too much to risk with Belarus insurance!

Thanks for all the compliments by the way. I'm only too pleased to share the experience and photos!
