Petrol and a Remap

Featured Replies

I've been running mine on Tescos 99 since I had it sharked, and apart from a throttle calibration issue, it's been running extremely well, though occasionally I think it's not quite as quick as the day it left Mansfield, but I suspect that's in my head. I filled up with V-Power this evening, only a penny a litre more than Tescos finest, but it really does seem to add that high end snap that occasionally seems to be missing, pulls like a proverbial train to 4.5k then seems to flatten off, whereas this evening it carried on right through to 6k pulling strongly....

Like I said, placebo is a convincing room mate perhaps.

well I've always use V-power, so couldn't say if you are imagining it or not

i used to use 95ron,then switched to bp ultimate and the repsonse improved, now i using shell v-power and it definitely helps in the low revs as i change up much earlier,i havent noticed any change in the mid/top revs though

Oddly i've been using Tesco's 99 since remap and upped the plugs to iridiums and it ran awfully!!!

back to OEM Bosch numbers and some V power and it has that spark it had before seems eager and wanting to go.

I always use V POWER

IMO Tescos fuel is pants, all fuels are the same as a base when refined & then companies put in additives as the tankers are loaded to come up with their specific brew. Shell's main product is fuel so they strive for the best, Tescos aim is profit by buying as cheaply as they can & then selling products for as much as they can get away with & have worked out that Mr average just looks at the headline price

I found with Tescos in the last tuned car it gave pretty good power when the car was flat out but driven any other way it lacked response & when cold the car ran really badly. V power gave the same flat out performance but gave much better mid range performance & smooth running when cold.

If my experience is correct you will also notice better mpg with V power making it overall cheaper then the Tesco porridge as well. Join the V Power club & you get points for the amount you use which you can use in many ways or if you dont nominate anything you just have a voucher for money off sent occasionally

Additives are added at the pumps, It's easier to have tanks containing base petrol/diesel then adding the magic potions than to store several different tanks

So I'm told

I've been running V-Power most of the time but occasionally I have not been able to get it. Last time that happened I could only get Fuelsave.

I realised that going up a local hill which the car will do happily on vpower in 4th, was dropping to 3rd.

My next tank I put in vpower and it pulled 4th up the hill with swmbo and luggage for a long weekend away. same conditions otherwise.

So I know personally that vpower diesel has more power low down than Fuelsave.

I will carry on using vpower.

I'm running performance mode 2 on Revo Stage 1 and it needs 98 ron min. I've only ever used V-Power as over the years I've found it to be the best performing and reassuringly expensive!
