Hire Purchase

Featured Replies

Morning all.

I have my vRS on hire purchase. Not even a year in yet and someone crashed into the rear of me the other day. It is all being repaired by his insurance etc so not costing me anything. Does it affect the hire purchase at all?

Dont see any reason why it should? You are getting the original car back in its original condition I suppoe, so no reason why the HP should be affected, if it was a total loss or something then yes obviously it would be affected.

No you pay your excess, claim it back and all should be well.

Don't even have to pay my own excess, Result!

Only time HP becomes an issue is if the car is totalled & you would be expected to settle the amount still owing, This can be troublesome if the Insurance payout on the depreciated car is less than you owe as you have to find the differeance.

I'd be surprised if that happened as a result of an accident that was somebody else's fault - I would have thought the lawyers would have something to say about that because the guilty party's insurance would surely have to make sure you suffered no loss at all, including car hire while getting things organised again.
