Help With Part No For O/S Driveshaft vRS Plus Vid Of Why

Featured Replies

Hi all. I'm looking for the Skoda part number for the o/s driveshaft for my vRS as it appears my CV joint is rather knackered as per the video

I'm having trouble finding one for the vRS so I was wondering if a driveshaft for a Seat Leon Cupra 180 bhp will fit as I can get a brand new one of these for around £30.00? All help appreciated as ever.

Anyone?

What about calling a skoda dealer up and asking for the part number?

Thats sounds more like the Gearbox mate.

I had the same sounds back in 2010/11 and there is nothing wrong with it. I would just strip it down and get another boot kit and re pack it with grease as the std original stuff in them is very runny and it is seeping out of yours by looks of it.

Std stuff:

New Boot Kit and stripped Inner tripod CV:

The sounds you can hear are just the gears in the box. Mine original box made sounds like that and so too does the Quaiffe box on there now. David 8 has my original one on his car now and its made his car soo much nicer.

I swapped it as I had a drone which I thought was the gearbox and that was more evident to me as I did the same test as you and found the same thing. on buying another vRS that drove spot on and was quiate I put the box in my car and found the drone still there.

sort of and expensive mistake to make not financially as I stripped the car but the time it took to get shuit of the parts was the biggest pain but also on the plus I got nearly 2k of improved mods off it and put them on my car lol.

New CV and shafts are expensive unless you get one from the place Raf_ got his iirc?

I only use OEM stuff from TPS as the last outer cv I had put on had play in it after 25k so I put an OEM one back on and ist been fine since.

Thanks for your help guys, The clonking noise is only coming from the cv/flange area as you can feel it if you put your hand on it, if you put your hand on the gearbox casing its self then you don't feel anything at all. So I'm pretty sure it is just the cv joint thats knackered. Was just thinking it would be easier to replace the shaft complete than take it off, strip it down and rebuild etc. J & R - Rafs company don't appear to list a shaft complete for the mk1 vRS but they do list one for the Leon Cupra 180bhp model which I'm guessing would be the same. On their website its £44.99 but they have an ebay page and they have one for sale for about £30.00 with same part numbers hence me asking if it would fit, here is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140428005646?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 can someone confirm if the Leon one would fit or not?

Thanks

Howard

Just phone them up m8, really friendly people and they will put it on ebay for you

Cool cheers Raf.

The near side one wasn't listed and I was going to order a different one thinking it was right. Straight away she said it wouldn't fit and told me that it wasn't listed, 10 mins later it was listed on ebay for me

I mailed them and they said they don't do one for the o/s for vrs only do the cv joints. So I'll have to keep looking.

Didn't know that, wonder why they do one and not the other?

Hi Porkballs,

Just wondering did you replace your CV joint/drive shaft and if so did this cure the problem??

I have the exact same problem (I also get a knock when going over bumps whilst on right hand down lock) and want to know if replacing will cure.

Thanks
