Plug gap after Remap

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps,

Im new to this site, so a big hello to everyone!

I got my Octy vRS Remapped at Jabba on Monday and it didnt all go terribly well.

The trouble was power was down in standard form, so that transferred to the final remapped reading and they couldnt find any reason why, they just said it might be a bad batch of fuel, i was'nt so sure.

So did some checks myself and found the wrong sparkplugs fitted!

well now i have bought a set of PFR6Q NGKs But im unsure as to what the gap should be set at on a remapped car??? Can anyone Help???

Welcome,

im sure jabba will be able to assist, you should go back for a bit of tweek on the remap,

Tell us what else you have done to the car...

Ive only had the car two months, so not done too much to it yet, but im well impressed with the way it goes and the build quality!

i have a green cotton filter fitted and the remap , its otherwise standard at the moment. I intend to get a milltek at some point when my cash situation improves!

i didnt want to speak to jabba straight away, just get the plugs sorted first.

will they charge for tweeks to the remap?

Give them a call and ask to talk to Michael or Elton...typically if you have issues with the map they will change to suit free of charge.

My NGK PFR 6Q plugs were left at the standard gap of 0.7mm after the Jabba remap.

was going to say the same, although i didnt know the standard gap setting.

there shouldnt be any reason i can think of why the gaps would need adjusting.

I thought gap setting was a thing of the past.......

There's no reason to be messing with the plug gap after the remap - the ignition system hasn't been changed, physically. Good detective work, btw

@Adrian - no, plugs still have to have the correct gap, but electrode technology means they don't wear as quickly as they used to, so tend to stay in tolerance until they're replaced.
