New guy saying, Hi and please help

Featured Replies

Hi all, I recently brought a 53 Octavia VRS estate, which drove very well, however next morning the idle was was very rough when I stared it, took it to my usual garage who took engine cover off to find that somebody had gaffa taped up the breather hose from the rocker cover "nice", promptly replaced that along with air filter, plugs, theese were in good condition but well worn, oil and filter, car is a little better but still seems to hold back, hesitate on acceleration, looking on here I've, unplugged the MAF, now the car so far seems ok but wiill leave it disconnected for a few days testing before plugging back in, NO warning lights have come on, on the dash, is it likely the MAF is nackered and could anybody please point me in the direction of somebody local with vag com, thanks in advance

if it runs fine with it unplugged, badly plugged in, its pretty definitive. Common fault too, that and throttle bodies

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi, I will check it's connected properly when I plug it back in, is it an easy job to clean the throttle body?

Yes just don't get your finger trapped under the butterfly inside, it hurts like hell.
