Big thumbup to the AA

Featured Replies

I just s*** myself on the way home...

I was listening to some (as normal) loud music when I turned it off for a second I could hear the most awful screeching noise coming from the front left... So I pulled into Sainsbury's and got out and had a look.

(Thank you God, it was chucking it down too! :finger: )

Everything with the wheel/brakes/suspension seemed secure, but driving round an empty bit I tried different lock to lock manouveres, different speeds - same noise. Then I spot an AA van in the car park. I start wandering over with a confused look on my face, when matey winds down his window and says "Try driving it backwards!" - My reply, "eh?" - Cue, "You've got a stone stuck between the brakes and the backplate!" - My reply, "oh" followed by a 25mph reverse down the car park.... No help, so matey gets a screwdriver out and whacks the backplate a bit, which does the trick.

So, Mr AA man in Sainsburys, Pinhoe, Exeter at 5pm tonight!  The kind of helpful attitude the AA should be proud of! :)

Wow, top man, unfortunatly people like him are a rare breed these days :(

Hope he has him self a drink tonight :)

lol-I want to know what the passers by thought as they saw J reverse around a car park!!

The shoppers were all running out of my way! I didn;t manage to hit one! :(

But actually it was a big car park, and very empty at the end I was "playing" so a 25mph reversing manouvere was quite safe.

Hi

Glad he got it sorted for you :) Of course, it did cross my mind that the reason he asked you to drive in reverse was so that you couldn't see him making a quick getaway to get home for his tea ... :D

Out of interest, did he ask if you were a member, or perhaps you discreetly covered your RAC badge?

Nice to end the working week on such a happy note.

Nope - he never asked if I was a member, although I did tell him anyway. :)

Lets hope my dealer is as nice when I go in to show them the rust in the morning.

Well, at least you got to drive home in rose-coloured spectacles  (Dunno about the poor sod who was still waiting for his AA man to arrive though...)

You're very charitable, I always reckon that it's because people pushing heavy trolleys need to learn to run faster  Been there, done that, and yes, it can be done if you go to the gym 3 times a week - oh, and, er leave the shopping to the hubby :D

PS There was a "Floyd on Food" cookery prog advertised today which cited Jersey potatoes of course, with the other specialities being liver in cream and conga eel with marigold soup. I kid you not. Bon appetite! :)
