Skoda extended warranty

Featured Replies

Just found out that Skoda offer an extended warranty for 4/5 years but only at time of ordering http://www.skoda.co.uk/GBR/owners/warranty/extended-warranty/extend-your-cover/Pages/Reasonstoextendyourcover.aspx

I was not aware or offered this, but at £640 for the extra 2 years would have been a tough call. My Yeti was not a factory order but was on route to UK and was the colour I wanted (White diesel Urban), so maybe I could not have taken out the warranty anyway. Does anyone know if Skoda (not a third party warranty company), offer an extension after 3 years ownership?

You are right that it can only be added to cars that are 'factory order'.

With regards to extended warranty, you can add a warranty up until the car is 10 years old or 100,000 miles.

Many thanks Preston Motors - you beat my Local dealer to the answer (still not had a reply to my email to them). Any idea of cost at 3 years old, with say 20k miles, to extend another 2 years? Also, is this with Skoda UK?

I may be wrong, but did I read elsewhere in these forums that the extended skoda warranty does not actually come from skoda and is an insurance product. As I recall the writer wanted the warranty because of columbus sytem failures at around the three year mark - he therefore took out the warranty and was assured at the time by the dealer that it came from skoda. When his unit did fail, they discovered otherwise and it wasn't covered. In the end the dealer did him a deal on the repair. I further recall that, upon checking, it would have been covered by warranty direct!

I am sure this was broadly the story - either that or my wait for my new greenline is giving me skoda dreams!!!!

Lets hope Preston Motors can answer that one.

There are companies providing extended warranty but the recent 4 year (80,000 miles) or 4+5 year (100,000 miles) Skoda extended warranty offered as an option when ordering is a full extension to the existing 3 year warranty. RAC recovery and everything else covered in the first three years continues for the extended period. It wasn't available when I placed my order but I added it through the dealer in May while my Yeti was still on its way here.

Its not even £640, all options and warranty extras are free of VAT

Dbg is correct that the extended manufacturers warranty covers the same as your normal 3 year warranty. the extended warranty, off the top of my head, (and watching football), is 299 per year or 529 for 2 years if bought in one go - will confirm this on monday though.

Solwayboy mentioned sat nav, manufacturers would cover this, whereas i dont believe it is covered on the extended warranty. have not had dealings with other warranty companies so cannot comment, from a personal point of view, have a good study of the small print.

£300 for year 4, £640 for year 4+5. It is VAT exempt, but unfortunately £640 is the price on my receipt. Would have been nice to be less ;)
