June.... Winter Wheels Fitted Just In Time!

Featured Replies

Since winter is just around the corner I thought I would get ahead of the game and put my new winter alloys on for first time since I bought them last winter. :sun: I think they look alright for winters! (bar the audi centre caps).

Real reason is that my new style Skoda centre caps are on their way and I am going to clean down the wheels more than normal and put some good G-Techniq C5 on them and that will take me a while to get around to, also getting one refurbed on Monday (and now 2 as I managed to drop one of bolts removing it and it chipped the frigging alloy on other side, oh well good timing I suppose.

Question for you all I was removing the wheels for first time and saw something strange the plastic caps covering wheel bolts...... I don't have any for my locking wheel nuts on drivers side only thought they just didn't have any then went to other side and it had some do they fall off or have dealers ripped me off on my new car last year? :wall:

my locking bolts dont have covers either

Wheels look good ;)

It isnt

They must have dropped off. The one that covers the locking wheel nut is a slightly different size/profile...

Thats the one! cheers now I have a part number too I am assuming first number is a '1' must order some lol they are cylindrical in the way they sit on top of the locking wheel nuts so must not grip as well. Weird that they came off on the same side haha.

it dipped to 22Deg C here today so I thought I must rush to put them on but since the UK spec VRS comes with nice 18" wheels not some 10 year old 17" things I thought it good to have winter wheels that and I am 2.5km from German border where its a legal requirement threw winter and any time temp dips below burrrrrrrr. Also becoming law here too. :( I dont like the idea of them myself but in my defence they are 4 seasons ones so should last forever!

Since 2010 for winter. Winning in spec ...... my view on that claim is that you have less choice on spec as your forced to have some options in first place which makes the new ROI VRS a very expensive car indeed at least we get to choose if we want to give Skoda hundreds more for certain options lol.

A bit of bluetac will hold them on - I just put mine in a plastic bag in the shed though.

Simple yet effective tip thanks

I'm not that proud - I'll be using my Scout's Proteus wheels complete with Skoda badges for winter use on a TT. (New format display is crap on a tablet by the way. It's almost impossible to edit correctly.)

Sorry FUBAR. I've made it look like you said the second paragraph there, but sele ting and deleting is now virtually impossible.
