Blackvue DR400 HD recording problem

Featured Replies

Well I was happily driving home last night along the m25, going over the dartford bridge until someone decides they want to be in my lane! No indication or anything so I had to swerve aggressively into the inside lane. Luckily no-one else was there or it would have got quite messy.

I was a bit shook up but thought, hey I've probably got the numpty's number plate on my drive recorder, so can post it to the authorities and yotube to name and shame.

However, went to check it today and for some reason it stopped recording 20 minutes before hand! So about an hours worth of footage just wasn't saved.

Really annoyed as i purchased the black vue for piece of mind, yet when I actually need it, the darn thing stops filming!

Not at all impressed

You need to tweak the settings, particularly those for sensitivity and if you want parking mode to cut in.

If you drive sensibly it can go into parking mode.

In-Law's just had theres replaced because of this - i believe it's an SD card problem rather than a BlackVue problem.

Putting the same card into my HD BlackVue, had the same effect to my unit.

I would suggest a new, high quality SD card, and in the software, turn on the recording lights, so you can see what it's actually doing...

Thanks Richard,

It was running for over an hour and a half with the same style of driving. It didn't go into parking mode.

Blackvue did say that this unit is prone to overheating, so I've amended the settings to reduce the quality. Hopefully this helps

Yeah think I'll get a new SD card too. Who did you go with? I typically always use Sandisk.

I turned off the bright colourful lights for normal recording as it makes it a bit too obvious lol. The only lights I get are orange, red and light blue, Light blue being my parking mode light (I think..)

Thanks for the info Al

Mine's not missed anything but it does say "please check the SD card" and I know the card needs reformatting. If there are more durable, better quality, micro SD cards out there, I'd be tempted to buy one. I know little about memory in general apart from size....

I've never heard of any overheating problems and we run 80-odd of these things (well, 20 and 60 of the non-HD ones).

Other than one warranty issue it's always been an SD card issue.

They do overwrite on a loop and after it's re-written several times you can get a fault which usually results in the "Check SD card" message.

I've upgraded the 300 non-HD to 8gb and the 400HD to 32 gb and they will now happily record for days with no issues at all. That's up to eight/nine hours or so of constant recording on the working vehicles as I've disabled parking mode. They do this for weeks before having an SD card problem, some go for months.

I've got a class 10 32gb in mine and it's been fine. I only ever format mine if there is an update.

Me too.

I am using Lexar class 10 32gb cards.

Periodically it will restart, so it is probably time to reformat.

I did have a 32gb card that returned a error many months ago. I was looking for some video, and discovered that it had somehow reformatted the card as a 16gb card. SD formater sorted it out and it has bee fine since.

Must check to see if there has been any updates recently.
