scratched instrument glass

Featured Replies

Just changed my Fabia for a Yeti and find that the previous owner appears to have tried to clean the instrument glass with sandpaper! It's not normally noticeable as it is at the bottom of the glass in both dials, but now I know it's there I would like to get rid of it somehow. Anyone know if it is possible without having to change something which is difficult to do and probably expensive. As the glass is really plastic any attemp on my part without advise will probably only make it worse.

Nice car though!

Meguiars PlastX clear plastic cleaner might work if the scratches aren't to deep.

Google Micro Mesh, its a system for renovationg perspex aeroplane canopies - I use it to renovate stainless steel and perspex panels on B&O hifi kit

consists of wet n'dry down to about 4000 grit followed by a liquid rubbing compound - gives brilliant results!

Thanks for these replies folks. I will give them a try and report back.

I have the same problem on mine, so will try out these products, no previous owner though, and I only ever dust with a clean microfibre cloth...

Try brasso and a nice soft cloth - never paper towels

Silver polish has finer particles, works better than Brasso but nowhere near the Micro mesh!

I wouldn't use Brasso - it's too agressive for that soft plastic and it's liable to fog it -it's better on hard perspex. Use Displex as mentioned above with a piece of cotton stockinet or something very soft - no paper or artificial fibres.

Might have a spare if it all goes wrong :)
