Upgrade to Bolero....

Featured Replies

Doesn't fire-up the... climatronic stuff display, but I think that's a coding thing, so that'll be on my list for when I next see my friend with VCDS.

Don't expect Climatronic to be displayed on a Pre-fl, even if you have access to VCDS.

Not a big loss really as it just duplicates other indications.

Exactly what I thought when I was looking at thinking of getting a Bolero. I had turned it off via maxidot for years anyway.

I read somewhere about getting climatronic display to work on a Columbus in a pre-FL, so I assume a Bolero would be the same.

It involved swapping two pins over on the climatronic panel.

There might have been a CAN gateway upgrade along the way, but I don't think there was.

Don't ask me which ones, but try either searching this forum it looking on My GTI.

I could of course be completely wrong as I don't have climatronic myself to have tried it.

That was probably it.

Not a new CAN but a new climatronic panel.

I was close...

Yeah, I'd say both on that score. ;)

The FL with climatronic must display everything on the Bolero/Columbus units then as well.

Is it possible to upgrade the Bolero firmware myself, or is this best left to a dealer?

All is in a cooking nicely. My only slight disappointment is the screen white-outs quite easily in bright light. Not a biggie really as I don't need to look at the screen all the time. ;)

Edit to previous post:

Does fire up boot-changer (discs 7-12) however, no non-audio data is read from them..........in the head unit it will tell me that the audio CD in slot 1 that I'm listening to is Red Box: The Circle and The Square, but when on CD7 just tells me it's an audio CD, how many tracks it's got and nothing else, not even running time. (They are 'proper' CDs in the boot-changer, not copies)

Discs are accessable through the same path as 1-6. Not exactly the most intuitive navigation system, there is duplication on the screen and the right-hand knob, unless that's just my version of the firmware. (040 according to the sticker.)

No sweat, helpful bonus really :) :)

6x6 CD-A + 6x6 MP3 (in my estimation of MP3 compression being about 10:1) = 66 CDs worth of music, plus media card (my weedy little 512mb read in about a second) plus the SGS2 hooked up, and the fallback of DAB and FM.................not gonna be short of music for a while ;) ;)

(More Pink Floyd!)

The boot changer won't even read CD text on an original CD...

I'm sure mine does running time though! I'll try to remember to check tomorrow.
