Are there, other than exterior and interior, differences in performance in comparison to a new one? Brakes, suspension etc?

Its the mk1 yes.

On 07 reg they did the vrs se version in metallic blue that came with leather interior. Still in mk1 then they changed to mk2 after that.

I cant comment on the mk1 to mk2 vrs changes in suspension or anything as im not up on them. Still havnt taken to the shape if im honest so not learnt about the spec. Im sure the mk1 vrs comes std with 288 mm discs and some upgrade to 312 mm. Ive purchased a set of coil overs for my mk1 fab vrs to give better handling. Std is ok but room for improvement.
