Major TMC Tuning Box Problems

Featured Replies

Just pulled out of a junction, car splutters and gasps and then dies.

Tried restarting several times, would idle for about a second then stall again.

Fault diagnostic scan:

P226100

Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249-, Mechanical malfunction

P023400

Turbo/Super charger Overboost condition

Control limit exceeded

P010600

Manifold absolute pressure/air pressure=>-G71/-F96

Implausible signal, sporadic.

Took the tuning box off, started fine and drove home fine.

I think either a cable has come loose on one of the sensors for the tuning box, or the box is knackered.

Will run the car for a couple of days without the box, then try the box again.

bet one of the connectors came loose... If you dont want it anymore, I'll buy it off you ;)

My first thought indeed.

Will try it again in a few days and see what happens.

Does sound like a connector. Had mine since Christmas and no issues at all.

The manifold sporadic signal is suspicious of a dodgy connection.

The overboost worries me though

i used to have the tmc tuning box on my abarth 500 and mine malfunctioned causing it to go into limp mode because it was not sending the signals out correctly .

tmc are extremely helpful and i posted mine off on the monday and received it back on the thursday reprogrammed and i also had the postage cost refunded :)

the thing is stu, the box may be asking for higher boost, but if its not being processed (i.e. it seems nomal boost to the ECU) it will go "damn! too high boost! " and go limp mode..... the box's job is to request the higher boost, and tell the ECU its the same boost...

I'd deffo go loose connection, so the ECU actallu got a real reading by accident ;)

let us know when you re-attatch it!

Box is back on.

Engine started okay, so that's a good sign.

Will take for a proper test drive later.

Car seems to be running normal after a test drive.

Good stuff.

Most likely a dodgy connector then.

At least if it goes again you know to just check the connections.

Must have been the person who fitted it ;) lol. Glad its ok now mate!
