Aux Input Fitting and Pin Removal/Fitting - Blue Plug

Featured Replies

I'm just about to install the newly aquired Stream MP3 to replace my non MP3 Stream I currently have. I have a few questions:

1. Best place to site the Aux Input? I have a Jumbo box but not sure if that is ideal to access the MP3 player whilst on the move. What do others find easier? Jumbo Box or Dashboard Top Box? Or even ashtray? I'll just need to start/stop/pause the player from time to time.

2. Just use the fitted 3.5mm jack plug as fitted to kit or cut off and fit a proper jack. This would lead to having 2x more connectors between source and HU though. It would look better but for ease I might just use the plug? Thoughts?

3. Swapping the pins over in the Blue plug? I assume I have to move the exisiting CD changer earth one hole to the left as per: http://octavia-vrs.c...eam_pinouts.jpg What is the best tool or method to remove this pin/connector?

4. I will have to insert the pins from this kit http://www.ebay.co.u...ME:L:OC:GB:3160 to the correct spaces in this plug as per http://octavia-vrs.c...mp3_pinouts.jpg

Do these pins just push in? What is the wiring colour code for L, R and earth? I assume the instructions are included but always best to have a second source.

Any help and advice most welcome as I hope to do this in the morning.

Thanks

Nick
