Car alarm keeps going off

Featured Replies

Hi guys

The other day my alarm went off about 5 times ever 5 - 10 minutes. Id unlock and lock again. After about 5 time it stopped doinf it. Now its just gone off again today for no reason, is there a known issue for this?

Its a 60 plate vrs cr.

Thanks

Discussed lots if you search you'll find posts but briefly it's usually either an insect in car or the alarm is too sensistive and is set off by blustery winds.

Have you had 5 attempted break ins in 5-10 minutes? That could explain it

lol, no break ins. Might take it to the garage to check it out, after I check with my fly swot.

Thanks

Park in really bright sunshine and the heat will kill the insects. Now where can you find some really bright sunshine . . . .

It'll probably be the sensor inside the car, I had this with my Cupra and had to pull the fuse out that activate the horn, I had it fixed the other week and its not that expensive, just frustrating!

Use a specialist rather than the garage though, I did this first of all on the warranty but have since discovered they didn't do it correctly! Dam STEALERS!!!

You'll need the dealer to turn the sensitvity down to 50, been done to death on here!

Mine did this, although I sort of came to the conclusion that it may be the bonnet switch, as it would tend to go off shortly after I'd had the bonnet up to check fluid levels etc, even while driving.....

Once happened while on the motorway that I had been driving on for 15 mins, parked up, and after trying the lock and unlock idea I got out and opened the bonnet, it stopped straight away, dropped it back down and it never came on again. Just a thought.
