Scratches on plastic dash

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

As a new owner of a VRS SE I'm trying to get my interior in tip top condition. Does anyone know the best method of removing or disguising those irritating scatches one gets from key fobs and/or sharp objects rubbing against the dash?

Can they be rubbed out or do you have to paint/spray them?

Good question...Don't know is the short answer. Rubbing may help if they are transfer marks and not true scratches. A pencil eraser would be good for that.

As for scratches I would suggest a trim cleaner that has a "matte" finish. That may help mask them (but won't remove them). Thats all I can think of. I wouldn't paint them though.

Thanks. Unfortunately they are scratches as opposed to marks, so I guess the 'matte' cleaner route is safest.

I suspect I could pay a trim specialist to professionally disguise them for me but as to the cost ££££! ? Anyone had experience of this ?

Find an old screwdriver with a black plastic handle. The cheaper the better. Then rub the scratches with the handle only lightly at first. Best to try somewhere not so obvious, i.e. door pocket until you get the hang of it.

This little trick has got me out of trouble a few times, let me know how you get on!
