best place to buy vcds and how much is it?

Featured Replies

hi as the title suggests im after purchasing vcds and need to know where to get it from and how much will i be looking to spend? cheers

I'd suggest buying a genuine Ross Tech one to get full functionality and support (if you register it).

I bought mine from Gendan who delivered quickly and safely.

Have a look on the Gendan website for latest prices of the version you want/need for your car(s).

i just got one deliverd next day to my door £264

just trying to rember company name !!!

It was probably this one from Gendan.

Although there is a cheaper Micro-CAN version (same software) which has a limited (but still pretty extensive) range of compatible vehicles.

Check the details and choose accordingly.

cheers guys think i will go for the hex one just trying to find the cheapest place. been looking at the genden one so knowing you recieved one from there i may go for that one.

There was another place selling genuine cables online from America.

They were a few pence cheaper, but delivery times were greater (not excessive).

Occasionally they come up on eBay at around £200+ mark, but that doesn't include the support package which is available to buy from Ross Tech at $99. Which actually makes the eBay ones more expensive than buying brand new...

well bit the bullet and bought the one in the link from genden hope it comes quick want to see what things i can add on my car

There are threads on this forum with pleanty of info.

Just remember to write down all the settings BEFORE & AFTER you make them so you can always go back again.

Better yet - run an Autoscan and save it. All the coding is there.

However, Basic Settings and Adaptations are not recorded. So be sure to write those down before changing anything.

It was probably this one from Gendan.

So is that the one that does the newer CAN type diagnostics i.e current Octavia plus the older VW vehicles, i.e. a 2001 VW Beetle? If so, then I might well treat myself to that one in time as I am looking into buying a Bug for the wife later this year and from experience they love throwing warning lights so it could save me a few quid!!!! But obviously I need one that will cover both types of vehicles.

I have the more expensive one and it does my wife's non-Can Fabia ('03) as well as my '07 Octavia.

Check the Ross Tech website to ensure your cars are compatible - I think they have a car selector on there still.

Cheers :-) Thanks for that.
