Budget catch can

Featured Replies

There are a few brilliant how tos on here from the likes of bowders and rob on how to fit a Catch can. these cans are bad boy and are a little out of my price range so i opted for a Cheaper option.

Needed...

Catch can - i got a 1.5L tank from Demon motorsport was £49.99.

some 19mm oil friendly pipeing Approx 1.5 meters

19 to 16mm reducers x2

19mm T piece x1

19.. straight Joiner x1

16 to 25mm Jubilee clips x10

7mm ratchet or screw driver.

I have mounted my catch can on my bulk head. To do this you need to relocate the relays into the plastic cowling..

Relay 428 is for the ECU so you need this. the other one is for the SAI, I binned this as i dont have 1 no more!

Remove your air box with the 2x 10mm bolts, this will allow you to get to your cowling. There is already a cut out in the cowlong for the MAF wire to pop out of, so you will put your relay wiring in through that. it will end up like this..

One this is out of the ay you will see the bracket thats already on the bulk head. Depending on your can, depends how you will mount it. I just use a couple of 10mm nuts n bolts.

you will notice that the servo pipe is in the way, you can either tuck it behind, or over the top like i did before i braided the line. (guide found here)

this is what you will have any way..

now for the pipe work..

This is your goal..

Depending on your can, will depend on the lengths of pipe. As the can i used (and most of the cheaper cans have) has a 15mm in and out, you will need reducers from the 19mm pipe. you can see how i done it in the pic above.

remove the old pipes from the location below (sorry i dnt have pics of this as i removed them ages ago) can be a bit fiddly but you will end up with a place to fit this..

you need to remove the Y piece pipe thats attached to your PCV valve.(hockey puck) run a pipe from the PCV valve to the can as shown..

the T`eed section sits in the middle of the lower breather, crank case breather and the can.

so from here.

This cost me about £80 to do in comparison to the some other catch can how toos where the can cost more than that!! lol

Hope this helps, Sorry i didnt have more "before" pics but i removed them ages ago.

Gee do you remember what fittings you used on the catch can??

Gee doesn't get on here as much as he used to - you're probably better to try a pm, he may see that.
