VTA dump valves any good?

I've got a friend with a brand new vta dump valve which he says I can have if I want ( he sold the car ). I've come from an Impreza and they do not run very well with these, is it the same with the VRS 1.8T?. I've got a bmc panel filter and a Shark Performance stage 1 remap on at the moment.

no good for these engines either, same reasons as the boxer engine
