AE test all three together, guess which is the winner

Featured Replies

Interesting article. Good to see another Skoda victory.

Not that the speed of the Citigo has been a deciding factor for me, or others I would imagine, it is interesting how they've chosen to use the sportier accessory options for the article. If they're gearing this towards people who are after a swift little motor then the article does confuse me a little. Perhaps it's just me. Either that or the way they write the articles is to make like for like comparisons difficult. The comparisons used for at least the speed is different across the pages.

The Skoda page would have you believe that the car is the faster when compare to the Up!:

Our test car was a Greentech model, which means the 74bhp 1.0-litre engine benefited from efficiency-boosting kit like stop-start. So as well as being the cleanest car (it emits only 98g/km), the Citigo was quickest at the test track, taking 17.8 seconds to cover 50-70mph in fifth – nearly two seconds less than the up!.

This extra turn of speed could be because the Skoda is 64kg lighter than the VW...

So it's talking to 50-70mph. The Up! page tells you they cars are a match but it only mentions 0-60mph:

At the track, the up! matched the lighter Skoda from 0-60mph, with a time of 13.8 seconds, while in our braking tests, both cars stopped a lot sooner and more progressively than the grabby SEAT.
