Mercedes CLS / Passat CC

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experience with either of the above? I'm considering the cls 320 cdi and a Passat CC 2.0 cr tdi 170 dsg. Not really comparable but a similar market. I know I can get a newer passat cc but I love the styling of the CLS...

Any thoughts?

Why?

LoL serial tyre kicker, I can sympathise.

Don't know the cars to drive but you are paying a premium for a version of the normal car with a smart suit on.

Mechanically they're going to be nearly identical to their more humdrum siblings.

Against my better judgement I do like the CLS but I have a fondness for big barges.

Yeah. Fair point. Unfortunately on both occasions I ended up with problems and had to pull out. I have now come into a bit of money and think I will buy something I really want, rather than getting something on impulse. I've liked the CLS for a long time and also find the Passat CC quite nice too. Just wanted to hear peoples opinions on them.

I like 'em both but I doubt the passat would be practical enough and I'd be fooling myself if I thought I had the money to waste on either of them.

I often think about other cars but never to the extent I beleive I might buy one. Although Bentley CGTs starting at 30 grand looks like a recipe for trouble...

Surprised there's no Audi a5 lol

The CC is a lovely drive, and the new model feels very special inside.

S Class V12 job done.

Few colleagues have opted for the CC over regular Passat, must admit they are very smart and well spec'd

For many, it's a big turn off that it only has 4 seats. Not incredibly practical for that reason.

However, it flows nicely on the road, has some very near touches (analogue clock in the dash, reversing camera in the rear VW badge, pillarless doors) and is subtly, irritatingly attractive.
