Octavia Electrical Issues

Featured Replies

Alright,

Our Octavia is getting a little tiresome so its time to take action.

Issues are as follows:

Remote central locking has stopped working, neither keyfob does anything to lock/unlock the car

Locking via the key now only locks the front 2 doors and the boot, both rear doors are uneffected (locking/unlocking the boot doesnt always lock/unlock the doors)

Sometimes when you unlock the doors all the windows open fully, rear and back

Any idea how much getting these items fixed is likely to cost? Am I best taking it to the locak Skoda garage (Bickerton in Sheffield) and getting them to take a look.

Cheers

no, find a local independent vag specialist they will be a LOT cheaper

Common VW fault. My son had a Sharan, did exactly the same thing. He sorted it himself so will give him a shout and post the answer asap..

My Skoda dealer took my Octavia away to fit a new seal around the boot. I didn't notice that, on returning it, the driver left the lights on. Ultimately that drained the battery. I was unable to jumpstart from my partner's car and 2 days of trickle charging did nothing. The dealer came and managed to start it and took it away to test. Gave all clear on the battery but says a unit controlling doors and windows needs replacing and is quoting over £400. I am dispute and waiting for a return call. There was no sign of a problem until the car was in their hands.
