How long does it take to transfer private number plate onto the new car?

Are you asking 'transfer', as in its on another car, moved from your old one,

and being transfered to your new one.

Or is the number on retention or DVLA new bought retention?

JUst simply onto the 'First registration' !

Untill recently it was simple and the dealer did it on-line or at the office,

Usually it was Car in to get PDI & by that time it was registered and Taxed in 48 hours.

it is appearing to get difficult recently, & a certain dealer with the initials AC have messed several i know up just this year.

(They are wanting to close 5 Scottish DVLA offices and i think they are making thing awkward on purpose.)

Best get the info from the dealer, as they are doing it daily or weekly and Glasgow might be epic again.

Dundee DVLA are dead easy and helpful.

The Private plate is currently on my VW golf which I am transfering onto a new un reg monte carlo.

I did mine once i got the new car felt it was easier
