Guys

I'm after this retro fitting on my 06 vRS .

is the dealer best place for fitting? And what price should I be looking to pay?

Thanks for your help in advance

i fitted cruise to mine couple of weeks back on mine quite straightforward if you have vcds too, you could try dealers but there are other companies will fit it for you.

You can have mine... I never use the bloody thing! :)

Give Shark performance a bell, they will fit it for you. There only in Mansfield aswell.

+1, I'm not sure which roads you guys are driving on but my CC would never be on for more than 10 seconds!

I've just driven down the M1 today from leeds to london in my wifes mk1.I had it on for almost all the way!

I drive to oxford once a week with work so would love it ASAP on my mk2 when I collect it next week,

I use my CC all the time. The only pain in the backside is that you set it at the legal limit on a road with a speed camera and all the plonkers in front who don't know how fast they are driving keep slowing down to 5+mph under the limit.

Mine gets used ranging from 30mpg roads at 5:30 in the morning (keeping me honest) all the way up to 75 on the motorway. Shame I can;t see just how much of my travel in the last month has been on cruise actually.

I use mine a lot. Getting temperamental again though so must be needing cleaned again.

My retro fitted CC stopped working, so I stripped the stalk and cleaned the contacts with a contact cleaner, reassembled now working schweet!

At OP, there is a guy called Eddie-NL on the MK5Golf GTi forum that supplies and fits for £90, if you can't be ar5ed to get the stalk, fit it then have it coded.

The only real time I tend to use CC is through average speed cameras in motorway roadworks

Mike

Ah, yes, snap!

Only problem is idiots tend to vary their speed so much you can never use it for the whole distance of the roadworks!

Piece of **** to get the board and clean it. Done it before. Going to be one of those regular bits of maintenance now I suppose.

Use mine all the time too, big fan. Keeps you legal at slow speed, an absolute godsend in average speed camera locations. Doing Migglunds to central Germany quite often - 600 miles on motorway/autobahn especially with the octavia's offset seats pedal arrangement and my ****y knees - its a no brainer. Physical comfort, peace of mind, focus on traffic, lane changes, signage, directions, other drivers all take prioity over the slavish observance of a random burocratically "chosen" number if I can get a machine to do the task for me, leaves me free to increase awareness of what is going on outside the vehicle.

Big down side, I now find it irritating that others don't/can't hold a steady speed. Up and down, up and down. Sometimes to the extent of overtaking me then slowing down to less than my set speed. Am I the only intolerant driver?

ps the factory fit in the 1Z is nicer than the retro fit I had in the old 1U, you can toggle up AND down.
