Extended Skoda warranty.. what will they cover?

Featured Replies

Hi all..

I bought myself a 2006 Octavia VRS Estate a month or two ago from a Skoda main dealer. The car is absolutely brilliant but unfortunately a few issues have manifested themselves.

Firstly prior to buying the car, they had at least one of the alloy wheels refurbished.. however whilst washing it last night I was dismayed to find large amounts of silver paint flaking off the refurbished wheel. It now looks a bit unsightly. As I bought the car some distance away from my local Skoda dealer(s) what are the odds they'd rectify this?

Secondly.. something doesn't sound right. From what I've heard and read on here it's likely to the the air-con compressor at least something driven off the auxiliary belt. It's a whining noise all the time, more so as engine revs increase and especially so when you engage the climate control. At this point the climate control works so there's no actual fault - but it sounds pretty weird. Do they do investigative work under warranty or will they basically just tell me to come back if / when it fails?

Sorry for the newbie question - not owned many new cars before so unfamiliar with what they will and will not do under warranty and don't want to waste my time (or look stupid) ringing my local dealers with trivial questions!

Thanks.

Fak all!!

Ive got the same delam on my alloys and they said they wont fix.

I did suspect this would be the case, especially as it's clearly because of a crap repair by a mobile alloy wheel specialist rather than a fault with the actual wheels. A powder coaters in Birmingham have been doing alloy refurbs for £20/wheel for some time now and I know several people who've used them and been thrilled with the quality.. might just get these done at my own expense :|

£20 per wheel, that is some cheap price,

is he paying himself less than 'Minimum Wages' or doing it as a charitable act.

Do they even spend 30 minutes on each wheel

(i take it thats not £16 & £4 for the VAT man per wheel)

Time and materials and overheads really mean that that is much like the job that the dealership must have had done..

Re the Warranty,

put a 'Letter' & an Email off to Dealership asking what the SKoda Extended Warranty covers

you for concerning mechanical matters.

It's a powder coaters in Birmingham. They've been running the offer for some time and as I say, have seen the results with my own eyes and was very surprised. For that money they stripped (and refitted) tyres and corrected buckling and heavy kerbing. I don't know how they do it for the money to be honest, but unsurprisingly they have a constant high work load and are in demand!

If it was refurbed by Skoda at an approved bodyshop should have the same cover an original wheel does. Which is probably just corrosion.

Not sure about Octy but Fabia vRS wheels from Skoda themselves are about £125ish. Might be worth it for a new one and then use that for spare or sell for £50?

Truly amazing that they can correct buckling on an Allow wheel, never something i have been able to do,

i stuggle to do steels for offroaders.

Tyres off, wheel fixed & prepared & finished / lacquered, tyre on and balanced all for the true price of a Tyre change and balance is fantastic.

I would get wheels done there myself, because thats a quarter of what i used to charge.

PS,

i was thinking, we have places like that up here,

obviously can not actually make money doing what they do, but need to show a good cash flow and look busy and prosperous.

Always good for a bargain while they stay open.

Indoor Kart Tracks and Childrens play areas. Clubs with £1 bottle bars, Burger Vans that come around work places and do not worry if you have enough money as long as its Coins or small notes. Just no reciept book type business's

I wonder sometimes (not for long) how they really make their money for the fancy houses and cars they have!!!!
