Bailey DV30 Dump Valves and Turbo Boost

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just fitted a DV30 Dump Valve to my unmodified Octy vRS (12 months old, 12K miles).

No problem with old one, just preventative maintenance and liked the idea of a more responsive motor.

Question is that I get the feeling the turbo came on boost earlier with the stock DV fitted!

Unsure if the DV30 has just changed the charactewristics of the engine, or the ECU is adapting to the new setting etc (so I've heard, but this could also be a load of clap trap)

Anyone out there give any feedback (I do still ave my old DV if the need to replace old one is necessary)

Someone also said that with the DV30 being uprated (able to take higher boost) it may not be operating as it should with normal boost pressure, is this a legit statement or clap trap again?

On a seperate note, is it possible to wind in/out the wastegate actuator rod to increase turbo boost pressure slightly to give a noticable improvement in performance. Any advice like Yes, No, Don't even touch it, dangerous to engine etc etc etc.

All comments welcome

Cheers in advance

The standard dv use a diaphragm and these respond better than piston type dvs...apparently...so this may be what you are experiencing.

Of course the piston types are more reliable however Forge now do the Optimus which is a diaphragm type but use a much more reliable material. So you get quick response and the reliability....apparently. ;)

I believe you can adjust the waste gate actuator but not done it myself...not supposed to be a good thing.

I think Paul (Fflelan) had a play with his. ;)
