Bluetooth & Bolero problems

Featured Replies

I've coded a Bluetooth module for someone who has retrofitted it to his Octavia LE and matched to his Bolero, but we have three problems:

  1. The layout of the telephone numbers on Maxidot display looks to be an American format: 016-177-*****. Not major, but the UK Skoda manual for BT shows the number as one long string);
  2. On the Maxidot there are two empty squares either side of the bluetooth logo, one of which should show media streaming and the other battery strength (I believe);
  3. The big problem is that although the Maxidot controls the phone correctly, the phone book on the Bolero is garbled with random characters and phone numbers appear against the wrong name! Maxidot display gets it right though...

These are the scans from the car (only the relevant ones to save space, but I can post a full scan if that helps anyone help me):

Here's the response from Ross Tech, but I can't believe no one else has encountered these problems...

If you'd go by the build date of the car and the officially available

units you'll notice that the module you're installing is a little new

for your chassis. Now mind you this shouldn't be an issue in most cases

but sometimes it causes incompatibilities like yours.

Something you can try is having your dealer update the Instrument

Cluster Software to SW Level 0112, see TPI 2021210 (Campaign 90E9) for

details. The SVM Code for the update should be 3012.

Now mind you this will very much not take care of the Bolero issues and

in the end I would assume the BT module is just not right for your car.

I am convinced based on your scan that the coding isn't your issue.

Seems Ross Tech were right.

The BT module was too new for the Bolero as it worked just fine with my newer Columbus.

However the Maxidot display could not be upgraded by the dealer! But the phone number appearance on the Maxidot appears to have been fixed by a phone OS update and some re-entering of numbers (it seems that the numbers on the phone had been corrupted by the BT/Maxidot/Bolero (delete as applicable).

So 1 & 3 fixed. 2 may have been if an upgrade to the Maxidot had been possible.

The moral? If you have an early Bolero, be careful which BT module you buy.

  • 1 year later...

Errr, I've just bought a 'new' Yeti with a Bolero unit but the build date is 25 months! earlier (1/12) and to my 69year amazement the phone book is corrupted by, it seems, just 1 number.......I think modern expression is WTF!

Understand I don't understand much, if any, tech jargon.......any suggestions?

Is it brand new? If so take it back to the dealer and ask for a newer unit or at least a update to the firmware. That sounds like far too much of a timelag. I suspect your issue will be firmware related.

Adam

Yeah, the dealership just said bring it in, so I suspect they know what the problem is.
