intermittant lumpiness

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. Im relatively new to the forum and am needing help to diagnose a problem with my 2000 model 1.9d Cube van (now a pickup). Upon starting the engine it idles great but after using the car for a while the engine gets very lumpy and occasionally stops. I have tried changing the filters and oil and also using a diesel flush but to no avail. Has anyone overcome this problem or do any of you have an idea of what could be causing this? Any info would be of help. Thanks

hi, try blocking off the egr valve, it may need cleaning out,,

Thanks for replying, Would blocking the egr in turn cause any other problems tho?

Nope, only slightly increased emissions which won't make it fail a smoke test for MOT. EGR is purely an emission control setup, and actually makes engines less efficient. You may well get better MPG as well as better running.

Tried the egr valve but to no avail. Has any one else had any experiences like this?
