Passenger Electric Window

Featured Replies

I'm at work, on a PC as old as the sun. Consequently, the search function is returned as script (something to do with the version of IE).

I tried to open my front passenger electric window on the way to work this morning. It wouldn't open from the driver's door. I tried the passenger switch. Nada.

I checked the book and there is something about electric windows going doolally if you disconnect the battery. While I haven't done that, I hit a pothole in the Monte on Weds that made me feel as if my spine had broken, the alloy had snapped and the car would be a write off.

No discernable damage at the time, but now the window wouldn't open today. Could a fuse have got dislodged? Are they even spearate?

I'll run through the power off reset procedure, but has anyone else seen this or know how to fix it?

If you diconnect battery and start there, window should still operate from switch thou. Disconnecting battery usually stops windows from opening/closing fromkey and being able to fully undo window pressing for lyk 2 seconds, reset for windows is usually pull switch up lyk your closing window up for 2sec then release and repeat then should atleast operate via key

I'll check the key function when I head to the car in 5 mins - boss has called time early. Result!

Maybe not valid to your situation but...

My passenger side window stopped working just how you described on my vRS. But miraculously just started working again after I stopped and started, has been fine since!

My car must fix itself ;)

My drivers window doesn't open. There are separate 25amp fuses for the left and right windows. Might be worth checking to see if they are blown.

this exact thing happened to me in dublin, but windows were down, passenger side wouldnt come up with either switch and it was raining! After about half a day, it fixed itself. Had the car in recently to the dealers as the car was misfiring and I mentioned the window fault. According to them, no fault message for windows, maybe a fault in the wiring loom they said.

I checked the fuses, which were fine.

It was stuck in the up position for a few days but magically fixed itself before I could get around to booking it in for the dealer to take a look

U might have reset it by accident then by bringing window up. well all gd then
