Snowfoaming a wet car?

Featured Replies

Is it okay to use snow foam on a car that has just been pressure washed to get rid of a build up of dirt and grit from the roads? (I don't want to let it dry because of the inevitable `water marks`) Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

In my experience its perfectly fine

Always remove as much of the grit and grime I can with the washer and then Snow foam time. ;)

Label on front of the magifoam bottle says to wet car first so that's what I do.

It definitely clings better to a dry car then after its dwelled you pressure wash it off which aids the removal of the dirt.

Or if you did want to wet the car first I'd just give it a fine spray rather than a full pressure clean as snow foams job is to loosen the dirt for you!

I tend to clean the wheels while it's dwelling or if it's not too dirty you can give it a gentle once over with a wash mitt to help things along....depends if you're after a big 0 touch clean or saving some time!

I've never `snowfoamed` before (just waiting for the equipment to arrive.)

Where I live the roads are very often mega muddy due to the tractor traffic and I'm worried about scratching my nice new paintwork!

Perhaps the way to go for me would be...snowfoam the dry car > pressure wash > snowfoam the , now, wet car > wash and dry.

What do you think?

Well snow foam itself is wet as its mixed with water both in the lance bottle and the water coming through your pressure washer.

Sounds like a good method (it's a lot of trial and error to find something that works for you) id assess after the first foam and rinse how bad it is and you'll probably find its clean enough to go for a 2 bucket wash :)

There are lots of discussions on DW and other Forums about this

Generally...Its always best to remove as much loose dirt as possible but some Snow Foams require water to 'activate'

Some do not

I always pre rinse first

Well I cleaned my alloys for the first time today. I used `Auto Glym Custom Wheel Cleaner` (coz it came as part of the Lifeshine) and then `Chemical Guys Wheel Guard`. I found the wheel guard an absolute dream to use...but cor blimey not the case with the wheel cleaner! I expected a liquid but in fact its a very thick foam and therefore very difficult to cover the wheel. I used nearly a whole bottle! Does anyone know of a better product...hopefully a spray liquid. Many thanks

Very Cherry

However if you apply a layer or two of wax (I use FK1000P) then you will only need the wheel cleaner a couple of times a year, providing you wash the car regularly.
