002.jpgWhen I took delivery of my Yeti I had this weird circular piece of plastic attached to the dash, seems well and truly stuck down.

Any ideas whats it for and how to remove it perhaps?.

When I picked the car up from Mitchells they alerted me to the fact but did not want to try and remove it them selves. It is as I say well and truly stuck down.

Get them to install a new lid. The part number is underneath. Job done.

It looks like a smooth pad to fit a suction mount Sat-Nav to me.

They are handy on cars where the windscreen is a long way from the driver.

Also a good advert for a thief to break into the car in case you left the sat nav in the glovebox...

Problem solved!-just went to the Yeti, the dashboard was baking hot so the circle was very supple, managed to get a thinger nail underneath and away it came without any damage to the plastic lid.Have cleaned the lid up with dash cleaner and now looks good as new. Thanks for your input.

I agree, but if it was factory fitted, you'd think it would be the same colour as the lid itself.

If it was it wouldn't have come unstuck enough to peel off IMO.

Looks aftermarket as Skoda don't do a portable sat-nav option on the Yeti.

You are all correct on every count!

It was my car previously and it is a self-adhesive disc that you can mount a suction cup on, be it for a sat-nav or some other device.

To remove all you need to do is to apply some heat via a hair dryer or similar, however you obviously left it in some direct sunlight which softened the adhesive sufficiently for you to remove it.

I am surprised the dealers made no effort to remove it before they sold it on.

The disc is no more of a giveaway than the suction disc outline on the inside of a windscreen if lowlife are sniffing around.

Glad it all worked out ok in the end.

Up to now the replies to this thread were polite and helpful, theres always one who has to spoil it.

Oh come on!!

It was from Bob, and NO-ONE takes that much notice of him!!

and NO-ONE takes that much notice of him!!

Sorry, Graham, I must out-pedant you right here and now.

Your sentence should read "and NO-ONE takes ANY notice of him!!"

Aw c'mon, chaps? Give a dog a break! Bob's a nice guy, really.

Oh, I know he probably is, but he spends so much time in that "corner" that I'm beginning to wonder what he does there?

We used to complain about the Yeti section getting invaded by silly people.

Now they seem to all live here... :D

And long may they do so!!

I'm very happy in the corner - drinking Martin's homebrew. :drunk:

This weather's not doing the homebrew much good - too much CO2 build up (in the barrel, that is) and the beer is leaking through the tap :( Having to drink more of it than usual just to relieve the pressure! Warm beer anyone?

I have a similar disc on mine but it is black with a low rim, I use it for the sat nav but leave a couple of dried up mint imperials in it for disguise! Also makes a good coaster when having a brew, usefull when heading towards a toll booth.

Can you send a couple of pints this way please Martin?

Crisis averted for the time being - beer level reduced. It's a tough job but someone has to do it  I'll be trying some Welsh beer at the weekend, as SWMBO is organising our mini-break in Llandudno to include some real ale pubs :) I'll be closer to your neck of the woods in a month as we'll be near Llangollen for a few days - if there's a beer surplus I'll let you know!

Looking forward to taking the Yeti around Wales. Our old Octy was there quite a bit, as have all my previous cars.

I think while Martin is in Wales the rest of us should organise an expedition to Wetherby and sit in the corner together to welcome him back home ... "oh, sorry, it's all gone" :drunk:
