Hello. Please tell me about the VRS :-)

Featured Replies

Hello Skoda people.

I'm currently driving a 1997 Vauxhall Astra and the poor thing is on it's last legs.

I have about £4100 max for a Skoda Octavia VRS.

I was wondering... what kind of milage do these cars achieve?

I've seen a 2005 model, 2 owners with 95000 miles for £3250 .... this appeals to me but not if it's going to conk out at 110,000...

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

useyourname.

ps - i just read the buyers guide posted on this forum but still would like an idea of top mileage?

Hi There and welcome!

I'm actually in the process of beginning to get rid of mine.. £4100 will get you a minter.. seriously!

They are fine provided they've got FSH, cambelt has been done etc.. there are some common faults which are just typical VW Audi stuff, mostly bushes!

Hi and welcome aboard.

For that money you can have my mint 56ker!!!!

You will have no problem finding a low mileage one with that budget!

Hello and welcome useyourname

Just read your edit.. Now I'd say anything over 150k i'd avoid.

Mine has done 108 and doesn't miss a beat.. I've done a lot of work though and it's got full skoda history so you'd expect it to..

Do watch out for clutch/flywheel issues as they do fail prematurely. Mine has got a single mass flywheel conversion which helps no end!

Welcome

They are a good engine in the octy mk1 vrs. 1.8 20v turbs are in alot of cars in the vag range. As others have said so long as they have good serv history and usual belt and pump changes you will be fine. That money will def get a low mileage one. I saw an 03 plate with 82k go for 1800 on ebay. Was a classified add too.

Are you set on an octy? Fabia vrs mk1s are damn reliable with good economy and quick too.
