Window problem that seems different to other posts?

Featured Replies

Hi, first post on here but I have used the forum for problems with the wifey's 2000 1.4 16v classic fabia in the past.

She's getting quite annoyed that her drivers window won't open (she's a smoker and she has to use a ticket car park for work sometimes), it's only been 18 months so I'm not sure why she's getting so arsey about it but she did threaten to take it to a garage not long ago so I promised I'd sort it (after she steadfastly refused to give up smoking or reverse into the car park to get the ticket)............wish I'd let her take it in now!

Window only goes up. Nothing wrong with the regulator. When taking the motor off the door the motor only winds up.

I've tried a new switch and motor (both used ebay ones), but...........The motor, which was supposed to fit the car had the wrong circuit board in the top (it only had 2 plug sockets instead of 3...presumably it's from a car without electric mirrors???) so I used the circuit board thingy from the old motor.

Am I right in suspecting that the circuit board bit is the problem (I can't see anything wrong with the board but...) or shoud I try something else before I buy another?

I doubt I can return the motor coz it's been months since I bought it but unfortunately health and laziness problems got in the way!

Hope someone can help me.....this has sort of been a good little car!

When you say it won't go down.

Does the motor whir, but the window sticks, or does it literally do nothing?

Can you manually push it down?
