The R can't be that bad a car surely?........especially as vrs owners rob its bits to make there's BETTER

Dont get me wrong the vrs was a good reliable car but that was it.

I don't think I'd own fwd again unless it was something special.

Nah only messing with you m8, I was looking at them before a brought the octy. The front end looks good but for me the lack of boot space and the interior packaging let it down as well as the fat backside. Its more of a focused sports car than the octy and not as comfortable long distances even with the ace seats.

that was called a Toledo

Its the Octavia's closest relation

love them toledo's mate of mine was going to get one but couldnt find one in his price range. plus he wanted the v5 170hp model but he went and got a vw passat 1.8t 150 hp and has never looked back now the things he is doing to it :p !!

Seat got everything right with the shape of the Toledo apart from the rear lights wtf were they thinking! And what's the point of the middle brake light being the same height as ordinary brake lights? They are ment to be high level lol

When considering a new car my options were

The octy

Cupra

Cupra r

I chose the octy as it was the most understated, seen way too many chavved up cupra r's and nobody round my way has an octy

Plus the extra coin for a decent cupra r (which there isnt many) and insurance costs as i just came back from a ban lead me to the octavia

And i still believe i made the right choice

There were only 3 or 4 Vrs's in York when I got mine, but they're starting to multiply lol, there was nearly 2 with pirate flags on the ariel lucky mine was seen before it happened lol

with some mods you can have the spory ness of the LCR on the octy lol. I hav all the parts you need bar the coiloves. all for sale too. lol

the octy is a far better car for me. the price was key and the look and practicality. with a few mods the cars can be on par and the octy would still be less money even after the mods.

I dont really agree that the Octi is the best looking mk4 platform car. The Octi looks rather dated and boxy compared to the rest of them. I even find myself thinking the front end looks a little Rover 200'ish at times (not a problem for me as I loved my old Rovers) Don't get me wrong I love my Octi but they are by now means a good looking car.

I was looking at R's but chose the vrs because no one had one round my way, then all of a sudden 2 red ones appeared locally which were identical to mine (not into that!) and a yellow one (which was the colour I wanted). That was the final straw

If she does decide to rid her mk4 in favour of 1 it'll stay standard bar maybe a stage 1 map which is enough to satisfy my needs on the odd occasion that I'd drive it. It's also big enough for her to hoon around in.

Just a shame the Octavia is A bit to big for her.

i gotta agree with the rover thing.. this is why i have played so much with the look of my car to loose the roverish front. im happy now..

I got a octy we out grew the bora (bigger than the LCR) i needed a estate and could not afford a S4/RS4 etc.. vRS FTW! its a good dad wagon!

If you get a cupra you'll notice loads more around than the octy lol

dont know what it is tho but i love the look of the octavia vRS. none of the others must be the bumper n spoiler but even a std one on the road looks nice.

they seem to have trends where you wont see any then they are out in force.. someone at work has a silver mk1 rs now lol.

i do lots of mile in my truck and dont see a great deal mostly r32 mand s3 a few lcr but again not many. cant seem to find many nice ones neither seems like they havve all been abused?

the vrs is a bit old school in looks but its the only mk4 platformed car that looks aggressive and sporty,my mates s3 looks to soft,golfs all look the same and leons(side profile)look like my old rover 25 gti !
