VRS vs cupra R

Featured Replies

The Leon really does have an odd rear end.

If they'd made a Cupra R version of the Toledo, that would have been interesting... stiffer bodyshell from the outset. Apparently the same is true with the Bora and Golf, Bora makes a miles better performance vehicle due to the massively stiffer back end.

Octavia sits somewhere between puddingy Golf/Leon and erection-stiff Bora/Toledo. Good compromise.

I dont really agree that the Octi is the best looking mk4 platform car. The Octi looks rather dated and boxy compared to the rest of them. I even find myself thinking the front end looks a little Rove

Now you're talking!! :D

The 2.3 V5, although charismatic, was a disservice to the car. 170bhp but it didn't feel like it- too lazy.

Bora 2.8 V6 4Motions still get me slightly warm under the collar though...

Isn't that why the vrs has the braces? What's the golf and vrs stiffness?

I don't know the exact torsional rigidity, but I can tell you from experience that the Golf is as saggy as a 70 year old woman's tits. Depends on variant, obviously. The R32 is obviously very good.

Just noticed the new kia rear has the same looking rear end at the Leon lol

They did a rare 180BHP AUQ engined toledo iirc. It was called a Toledo Sport 180. There's only a couple of them on SCN.

If they did the toledo with the Leon Cupra 4 (4WD, VR6) running gear, it would have been immense!

You could find an Octy 4x4 with a old/knacker engine and VR6/R32 engine and you've got yourself a little project

imo Octavia with vrs front bumper looks better than a Toledo with cupra/cupra r bumpers

Dunno the seat seems meaner at the front to me then goes wrong lol

someone needs to photoshop the head lights and centre grill off a leon cupra r on to an octavia vrs with the cupra lower splitter!

The better engine, brakes etc more than makes up for its fugly backside I'd say.

It's a bit like saying you wouldn't tackle angelina Jolie cause she's got dodgy lips.

the vrs should be compared to the cupra not cupra r,as the R is a hot hatch to compete with type r's and focus rs ,the vrs and cupra are just good understated fast family cars imo :)
